BiodiverCity® label: Eiffage Immobilier and Eiffage Aménagement commit to biodiversity in their projects

In line with its ambitious environmental approach and, in particular, its Biodiversity action plan, Eiffage is committed to the CIBI - Conseil International pour la Biodiversité et l'Immobilier - and its BiodiverCity® label. Eiffage Immobilier and Eiffage Aménagement are implementing this commitment: in order to support design teams and increase their knowledge of this label so that it can be incorporated into projects, both business lines have strengthened their Environmental Quality departments and have acquired the skills of in-house assessor ecologists.

The real estate and construction sector is undergoing an environmental revolution that is moving towards the construction of sustainable buildings and neighbourhoods, which in turn will contribute to the development of greener cities. With this in mind, and as part of the Group's common desire, Eiffage Immobilier and Eiffage Aménagement wish to develop the feasibility of the BiodiverCity® label in their future projects.

This label is a project support tool that aims to give a new place to green spaces, the quality of gardens and useful ecosystems associated with buildings.

The labeling process on projects has several concrete objectives:

  •     To raise awareness of the specific challenges of each project among all the players in the design and construction team;
  •     To integrate the project as well as possible into the existing ecological frameworks around the property;
  •     To design an ecological and functional landscape framework that meets the site's challenges;
  •     Integrate living spaces and facilities to encourage contact and uses in connection with nature for future users.
  • Organise and maintain the link after delivery with educational activities and events around nature for the inhabitants thanks to its network of local partner associations.

The Biodivercity® label attests to the compliance of the real estate project with a given level of ecological quality, the objective being that the completed project has a better ecological potential than the initial state of the site.

Visits with future users of certified projects are organised to help them better understand the proposed facilities and to provide advice on the ecological maintenance of green spaces. This support continues right up to the creation of the co-ownership association and the training of an on-site referent, among the users, to the ecological issues of the site in order to ensure that the good actions are maintained: a demanding label, BiodiverCity® has the particularity of being "visible" on a daily basis by the main people concerned who live there.

Among our references already delivered, the inhabitants of Smartseille in Marseille and our employees working on the Pierre Berger campus of Eiffage in Vélizy-Villacoublay, both of which have been awarded the BiodiverCity® Construction label, can already attest to these initiatives in favour of sustainable development linked to the label. The LaVallée eco-district is in the process of obtaining BiodiverCity® Ready-pilot status. An environmental commitment that is gaining momentum and will be increasingly present in our operations!

BiodiverCity® is a registered trademark, owned by the Conseil International Biodiversité & Immobilier© (CIBI) association, which awards it after a compliance audit of the project carried out by an auditor who is independent of the candidate companies and the assessor.
